FIRST BLACK OWNED SMOKE SHOP FRANCHISE: CODY HARRIS FOUNDER OF GRATEFUL HEADZ

Grateful Headz is a successful franchise that has established itself as a household name in numerous cities all across the United States. The roots of Grateful Headz can be traced back to its owner, Cody Harris, who grew up in a small rural town where life was challenging unless you were a farmer or had a prominent last name. He struggled to fit in, a feeling that is relatable to many people. But he decided to break free from society's expectations and pursue his passion for marijuana, a substance that wasn't always as widely accepted as it is now.

As a young stoner growing up in southeast Missouri, Cody first heard of Schwagstock, a festival that had a profound impact on his life. When he walked into the vendor row, known as shakedown street at the festival, he was surrounded by a community of creative and like-minded individuals, and he knew that he had to be a part of it. He started selling his products at festivals and got a job at a local smoke shop. However, he found that his ideas and thoughts were ahead of their time, and his voice wasn't always heard, especially as a young black male.

After several failed attempts to open his own shop, Cody found himself with a van, a few dollars saved up, and some loyal customers asking him what his next move was. He decided to start a website and take his business online, and soon customers were coming to his house to purchase his products. He traveled to music festivals on the weekends to expand his customer base, but he eventually realized that he needed a physical location to take his business to the next level.

Finding a suitable location was no easy feat, as he encountered several obstacles along the way. However, he persevered and finally found a place on West Pine Street. Five years down the line, Grateful Headz is still going strong, and it has become an integral part of every city where it operates. The Headz community is a beautiful community, and Grateful Headz has helped to break the stereotype of a pot smoker, allowing individuals to feel comfortable coming to their shops and living a healthier, positive lifestyle. Cody is truly grateful for the opportunity to grow with some of his best friends by his side, and he hopes to continue expanding Grateful Headz while providing the best products and service to his customers.
