While adversity causes some people to break, others use it as fuel to breakthrough. The latter is true for Atlanta, GA raised Music Artist Hoodstar Jack. His story begins with his family escaping from his native land of Liberia due to civil war conditions to the U.S. as an immigrant. This journey would influence the start of his music career from an early age.

Hoodstar Jack began experimenting around the age of 4 years old, waking up his relatives in his home by beating on pots and pans to create sounds. “I’ve always had melody and a rhythm for the music,” says Hoodstar Jack. Growing up in church with his Grandmother, he participated in the choir. This led to him fine tuning his melodic tone and developing a love for music. Jack recorded his first song at 12 years old in his brother's closet. He never had intentions to drop music, only to create music as a passion.

“Music is the highest form of self expression and counseling,” says Hoodstar Jack. “Music was the lifeboat that helped me stay afloat throughout my depression at an early age.”

Upon moving to Buffalo, NY in High School, Hoodstar Jack credits his lifelong friend Jefe with helping push him into the talent we see today. Jack exploded onto the local music scene with the help of his label Money $et. Hoodstar Jack released the poignant “Letter to U” in 2019, followed by “No Stopping”, “Dropout”, and the EP Voice of Edward Mordrake with labelmate Yung Fetti in 2020. All releases have collectively garnered over 100,000 total plays across all platforms. Hoodstar Jack’s 2021 single “Letter to Raze” is a penned message to his friend Raze about the lingering mental effects of a life in the streets.

Hoodstar Jack has performed as an opening act for artists such as Juice Wrld, Meek Mill, Mulatto, Trill Sammy, and Dice Solo. When discussing artists who have influenced his sound, Jack lists Ed Sheeran, NBA Youngboy and Famous Dex as his biggest musical influences.

“My biggest goal is to heal other people with my music and to help people get through what they're going through.” says Hoodstar Jack. “I want people to know It’s okay to be weird, and when it comes to adversity, you’re not the only individual going through that situation”.
